10 Years in the Making

This is not a normal vacation for me..... This vacation is 10 years in the making.

In the Police world I guess like most jobs you pick your vacation based on seniority, and you are only allowed a certain amount of members off at a time. So in the area of the city I work there tends to be a lot of senior members, they are all avoiding the drunk bar goers of downtown...lol

So the reason I say this vacation is 10 years in the making is that this was the first time in my career that I was able to pick pretty much whatever date I wanted in the summer. Most years when it came around to me I would be lucky to get something at the start or end of summer.

I picked this week off as I was planning to go to The Crossfit Games with some of my friends from the gym, but having our 3rd baby and selling our house there was just too much to do.

This vacation started off with a 24 hour marathon, I worked my last night shift and then had to go to court in the morning right after shift. I was hoping the matter would be over and done with quick but I ended up not getting on the stand until 3:30pm in the afternoon, by the time I left court and got home it had been over 24 hours since I woke up the day previous to head to work. That messed me up for the next day as well.

I made it to the Crossfit Box yesterday and got in a good workout, workouts have been made tougher by the heat wave we are having here in Atlantic Canada. But I made it through it and tate ( my little guy ) made fun of me for the puddle of sweat I left behind.

Well that's a quick update, I plan on getting this blog up and running again, I hope you all enjoy

  1. Hello, I'm Landy.

I leave in Texas, and here lately there have been some shootings that I have found troubling. Especially when the shooting may not have been determined outside of policy, but still claimed "qualified immunity" and no charges were filed.

So, I was wondering if you could share your thoughts on qualified immunity, are officers in Canada given the same protection, how often are officers charged, and has there been any convictions.

The last three years over a thousand people have died.

No, I'm not concerned about hardened criminals.

Anyway, I am sure this is an odd request and iI'd understand if you choose not to reply.

Thanks, concerned in Texas. Sincerely.Landy F.
