Bike Time

OK, Again it's a beauitful day outside! Spring is here to stay!

I have one issue, I need to get my bike on the road, The lady I purshased my bike from had it sitting in her garage for a long time and I think the tires went rotton, but I can't find a leak but when i drive it they go flat, so I looked and Looked for a bike shop thats open on a Sunday and I was able to find one around here that opens in another 1/2 hr so I'll be heading there to pick up some tubes and I 'll try to make it out of there just buying the tubes...lol

Question: For a beginner, does the different types of Road Tires really make a difference?

Constable Pham ``a modern day hero'' Photos and Video

I'm Happy to hear that over 8000 people showed up today to Honour Cst Pham, for those that couldn't make it they were looking for photos, here are a few I found...

OPP Commissioner Julian Fantino said, "Constable Pham, you may stand down. You have made us proud."

Funeral for OPP Constable Vu Pham

Today we headed down to our Local market, it's alittle crowded for me but it's worth the trip for the sweets...lol

After we made it out of the Market we headed up the street to alittle shop that is known for it's good coffee and food, when waiting for the food I picked up a paper and saw a photo I hate seeing it was a photo of a Police officers wife and Kids at their beloved fathers and Husbands funeral.

There was one quote from the story that stuck with me and almost shed a tear: Heather Pham had written in a funeral guide that "Monday morning began like any other day for us, full of life and promise."

(From a Newspaper)
Three young boys have said an emotional goodbye to their father, Ontario Provincial Police Constable Vu Pham.

Thousands of police officers attended the funeral in Wingham, Ontario Friday.
The youngest of the boys seven-year-old Joshua, says he enjoyed all the times he spent with his dad.

The other two boys 12-year-old Tyler and 10-year-old Jordan Pham talked about fishing and hunting with their father and the support he always gave them.

Pham’s wife says she will try to forgive the accused, because that’s what her husband would have wanted.

Pham’s partner Dell Merecy also praised the officer during the service in saying Pham saved his life.

Pham pulled over a pickup truck on a rural road northwest of London, Ontario Monday where he was shot and killed.

He was the force's 104th officer to die in the line of duty since its inception 100 years ago.

Fred Preston who was charged in Pham’s death, died of gun shot wounds on Thursday.

Clif Builder Bar Giveaway

As part of entery a contest I have posted this Post: Journeys of a Triathlete Father of Five

One month ago, I walked into a coffee shop next to the Y for a post-workout bagel and some water to rehydrate. While I was there, I looked down to see the usual array of Clif Bars that I had seen every morning. I have been eating Clif Bars for about two years before and during my workouts. I cut them up into bite size squares and chomp them on my long bikes. If I am at work and I am heading to the gym for an afternoon workout (something I seldom do these days, per the agreement with my wife to get all my Ironman workouts done in the a.m.,) I will scarf one down for some much needed carbohydrates before engaging in any one of the "holy trinity" of triathlon disciplines.

Still, in a pinch at any time for some extra fuel, I tear open a Clif bar (usually chocolate chip, or chocolate chip peanut crunch, but I have been known to down a few Chocolate Brownie Clif's in my day as well.) However, on this particular day, I looked down to see a package that I was unfamiliar with. It read: "Builder's The Entirely Natural Protein Bar" Then I see the red Clif decal on the side of the wrapper and it says it has 20 grams of whole protein. "Hey," I thought " I'll give it a try." Coincidentally, it was the only Clif Builder Bar left, and it was their chocolate bar (pictured on top.)

The Clif Builder's bar are one in word: dangerous. Why you ask? I do not think I have ever eaten a recovery bar prior to tasting a Clif Builder's Bar that did not taste like paste, chalk, or tree bark. Granted, tree bark may very well be high in dietary fiber, but definitely not yummy. I gave some to some dancer friends of mine. They loved them.

The top, or bottom of each bar has a thin glaze-like layer that tastes like the bar's particular flavor—chocolate, lemon, vanilla almond, chocolate mint, cookies 'n cream, and peanut butter of that particular bar. Then, a crunchy middle section—which in my opinion makes this bar unique—and makes it taste more like a candy bar, than a "good-for-you-taste-like-chalk," bar. What makes the middle section crunchy and dangerously addictive are different with each bar as far as I can tell. When I look through the ingredient list, I read soy rice crisps, organic oats, dried roasted peanuts, and dried roasted almonds. I was especially humored by my wife, who spent minutes carefully deconstructing the Cookies 'N Cream Clif Bar with her mouth to isoloate the crunchy part as if she was trying to figure out a Rubik's Cube. Lastly, there is a gooey second outer layer, again either on the top or bottom depending on the bar.

My wife ate a Chocolate Mint bar on Saturday following her dance rehearsal and said, "Yeah, that should not even be legal. How do people avoid eating these as snacks? They taste too good!" Now, mind you, my wife is a harsh critic. I have bagged whole compositions I have been working on by the furrowed eyebrows and other non-verbal feedback I pick up in her body language while playing a composition for her. I wish I could say I had a favorite, but I don't. The chocolate is really good, and can satiate my wife's discriminating chocolate fix. I have to admit I was a little leery about trying the lemon bar, until I did. If you like lemon meringue pie, don't eat this bar. Otherwise, you will only eat this bar and none others. To me it has a refreshing lemon zest flavor.

Of course, the best part about this bar is that they are a great post-workout bar. These bar's are loaded with 20 grams of whole protein, 0 trans fat, and 23 vitamins and minerals, and they taste awesome!

Speaking of awesome, the fine awesome folks at Clif are allowing me to give away THREE boxes of Clif Builder Bars on my blog. The rules for the Clif Bar Giveaway will be similar to the Timex Ironman Race Trainer Giveaway:

Day of Court

Yesterday I was able to sneak in a trip to the cool before I headed off to Court for the day.
The Trial was for as the newspaper said " Man charged after cop nearly run over on the street" I've testified in traffic court alot but not as much with Criminal court, but the day went well was on the stand for almost an hour, as long as your have gone over the case and your comfortable, testifying can be fun. The Trial went too long so it was out over till another day.

After I got home from Court I was invited our to a friends where we had supper, there was about 7 of us, it was a great time, we ate and chatted and laughed.

It's a beautiful sunny day here, any ideas what I should do?

Gone for a Hike

Hello all,
I'm not sure if I love my Job too much, I am currently on a 12 day vacation and I find myself alittle bored and wishing I was working. Mind you I enjoy the freedom to sleep in everyday and the ability to hit up the pool everyday.

Today I was sitting around bored, watching some TV and relaxing, So I decided to head out for a Hike, I headed to a Bike Trail that I have biked before and took a few pics, it was such a nice day here in Halifax today!

Later

( I had a Cliff bar for a snack)

The Hurt Locker

Well last night at the Oscars it was The Hurt Locker who was the big winner.

And the story line that made me watch till the end was Kathryn Bigelow Vs. James Cameron. It was the former married Couple now separated with the best 2 films of the year.

And when all the Gold dust settled the Winner was The Hurt Locker and Kathryn Bigelow.

But Don't feel bad for Cameron he'll just go home and roll around in the billions that Avatar has made him, But if you haven't seen The Hurt locker I hope all the Oscars will help you pick it up, it's a great movie!

What Movie did you like this year??

Kenny Goes to the Movies : Brooklyn's Finest Review

Hey all,

First off, the pool here didn't have lane swims today so I needed up going for a run, will have to hit that alittle harder.

Friday Night Brooklyn's Finest hit the Big Screens, and I was in the line-up.

First thing having researched what officers get paid in New York, if the movie is anything close to what officers go through there, they don't get paid near enough.

If you havent heard about this movie here's a Link for the movies site.

Brooklyn's Finest follows 3 cops and the direction their career takes them, the movie is action packed and will have you jump a few times, It's intense and at it's base true to the life of a police officer, so it's not for the kids!! It has alot of violence, swearing and some sex, leave the kids at Home!!

Overall I give it 4 out of 5

Back to the Pool

Hello all,

I have recently got back to the pool, The summer is coming up quick so I need to get on the move and get this swimming thing down!

At the pool they have a adult swim improvment class starting in April and I think I'll join up for it, I'm having issues with my form, so it will be nice to have somebody look at me and tell me how to change.

I'm having Olympic withdrawal, I loved watching them, but I must say watching all the great stories inspired me to get Triathlon ready.

Well I'll be updating daily again,

Thanks for checking back
